WHAT IF I'M FROM OUT OF TOWN?

Many of our students come from out of town. You must plan to visit Canmore a minimum 5 times during the year and an additional time for your final practical exams. Plan to stay at least the entire 10 days during the modules (see schedule) but tacking on extra days around the modules will help you get your internship requirements. We purposely scheduled the modules each month to make it a possibility for students to potentially find a rental place and stay for either a month or longer if they wished. This would give you the opportunity to work on your program full-time. Otherwise, if you just plan on attending the modules, you will need to find a studio (or have access to equipment) where you may continue to work on your internship hours while you’re back home.

I'M ALREADY A TEACHER. CAN I JUST TAKE THE MODULES?

Several of our graduates were Pilates teachers before they enrolled, even had been teaching for 5-10 years. Why did they do our program? There were holes in their training. It was incomplete and they felt frustrated or stuck in their teaching. Maybe they had lost their passion for Pilates or had stopped practicing it for themselves. These are all valid and common reasons to take our program. But we do NOT just offer our lectures as continued education workshops. Why? We want you to Embody the work and personally transform. We’ve all attended workshops and said, “that was great” but then never really assimilate the information. There’s no growth or change. Attending our program means you’re serious about change and you WILL transform and Embody the work. There are no shortcuts. Current teachers still have to complete the entire internship. The only difference is that your current teaching hours may be counted as Practice Teaching hours.

DO YOU THINK I'M TOO OLD FOR THIS?

Joseph Pilates says “you are only as old as your spine is flexible. If you are 30 and stiff, you are old, but if you’re 60 and supple, you are young.” We wholeheartedly believe this and we have students in our studio from ages 18-70+ yrs. If you are passionate about the work and wish to learn how to teach, then this program is for you. You will still be required to do the work and put in your time. There is no “I’m too old” excuses allowed in our vocabulary.

DO YOU HAVE TO BE A DANCER OR HAVE DANCE TRAINING?

Joseph Pilates was NOT a dancer, but there is a reason why dancers really resonate with the work. It is just sound, intelligent way of “fine tuning your instrument” and can return people back to life. Also, just because you may be a dancer, doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy. Dance can sometimes train the body in unbalanced ways, such as hyper-mobility, unsupported range, etc. We welcome EVERYONE regardless of their background. Having a willingness to learn, positive attitude, and have good body awareness are the keys to success in our program.

WHY IS IT SO EXPENSIVE?

Our Program gives you a career. If you look at the majority of Teacher-Training programs available, they offer a series of less expensive courses over a series of weekends. It can get very expensive, and frankly confusing, as to what you’ll need to pay and take in order to become comprehensively trained. Even the words “comprehensively trained” might not mean anything, but that involves learning the entire Pilates Method, all mat and apparatus, all levels. Looking at the larger Teacher-Training Programs, comprehensive training costs anywhere from $5000-$10 000 + and yet still may not cover all levels. Our program is limited to 10 students to ensure loads of personal attention. No one should fall through the cracks. Plus, it is our goal to exceed expectations with high value instruction, excellent materials, expert guest speakers, and an awesome studio to train in. Many of our grads have started their own business or were hired even before they had finished their program!

WHY ARE LESSONS A SEPARATE COST FROM TUITION?

Learning Pilates is very unique to each individual. Some students do well with mostly group classes, while others require more private sessions to help them succeed. Also, out-of-town students can take 50% of their required lessons in their hometown and the Pilates teacher will be collecting payment for this.

You will be granted a diploma, be able to teach, and have insurance as a Pilates Teacher. Technically, the only way you can call yourself "certified" is if you take a third party administered exam. In our industry, this is the PMA Pilates Teacher Certification Exam. Our program will prepare you for this exam. Upon writing this, our graduates had a 100% pass rate of the PMA exam.

You will be amazed at what your body can do as you learn to trust the method. Of course, not all exercises are appropriate for every body but you will be expected to grow from the time you begin to the time you take your final test. If you cannot physically do a certain exercise, you will be able to articulate why and which other exercises will teach these skills within your body.
